Welcome to B&B Viking
We run a family-owned Bed & Breakfast business in our home on Olov Trätäljagatan. This pleasant street is located in an older residential neighbourhood in the centre of Säffle, just a short walk from the bus/train station, guest harbour and town square.
Olov Trätäljare was the legendary Viking king of Säffle and its surroundings, and is named in the Eddan heroic poems from the 9th century. Our home is just a stone’s throw from Olov’s alleged burial ground, close to the old water tower. Our next door neighbour, the local folklore museum Säffle Hembygdsgård, is housed in a fine old log building where you can learn more about our heritage; it also houses the local ancestry centre. This is in a fascinating area of cultural and historical interest in one of Sweden’s most beautiful counties.
Stroll along the bank of the river and watch the boats pass through the canal lock in the summer. Take a short walk and visit one of the cafés or restaurants in the village. Pack your fishing and swimming gear and head off to nearby Duse Udde on the coast of magnificent Lake Vänern, where you can also rent a canoe. Or just put your feet up and enjoy a cup of coffee in the garden, admire the beautiful sunset and see if you can spot “our” pheasants, squirrels, woodpeckers and deer!
Then crawl into a comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep….. and wake up to breakfast served in our lovely, bright and airy kitchen. Welcome!
